Odd how?

It's easier to see it than to explain.

Is your eyesight all right? That one definitely looks like me.

... so we see different things?

[ he isn't sure if that's a good thing or not. ]

What about the others?

An illusion, then.

Hm... they look similar to one another, but I can't say that they have any distinguishing features to speak of.

Those are the same for me as well.

So... are those real, but the ones that look like us aren't, or...

They're more consistent, in a sense, but they could all be illusions.

[a shrug.]

But who can say? I'm not a magician or a scientist.

I mostly just wonder what exactly this is for in terms of what we're doing here.

[ like, how does this help with indulgences? ]

Replacements, in case someone has a little too much fun and breaks something they shouldn't?

[by 'something' she definitely means 'someone.']

Well, they did say it's possible for us to get killed here...

It was a curious detail for them to include in the guide, wasn’t it? One would normally assume we would die if we were killed, yes?

And they refuse to go into further detail about it...

So do they expect us to find out by it happening first?

Perhaps! They even mentioned holding people accountable for certain crimes. Isn’t that interesting? Everything else they wrote seemed to say “go, be free, indulge however you like,” and only in that one place was there any suggestion of consequences.

They said that they want to give people a chance to get justice.

So it's probably an eye for an eye situation.

I wonder...

There's a good chance we'll get to see for ourselves, if what we've seen of our fellow participants' impulse control is any indication.

[ he sighs. ]

As long as I'm not there when they do it.

I do wonder who keeps making a mess of things. Most people I've met seem capable of acting like adults, at least some of the time.
