Only Shi Qingxuan and Mineo. I felt I owed it to them, after they were both incredibly defensive of my honor when I did, in fact, lie.
... The biggest wrinkle, of course, is that Childe knows. I went to spar with him on Friday, and I told him that I used his knife. We'd worked together on various things up to this point, and the only reason I knew about the knife was because he offered it to me to use if I ever needed it the week before. I also wanted to make it clear that I knew that he'd lied to me about using his power on me - a sort of mutually assured destruction. I assumed he'd held it for other reasons and didn't ask questions, which was foolish of me.
Even if I hadn't said anything, though, I knew he would've figured it out right away, so I cut it off at the pass. The curvature of his blade is unique enough that he would've known the moment Mahito's body was recovered.
Who would've thought that he would've chosen to murder someone the same week that I had to defend myself against his idiot friend. [ deadpan. he hates every part of this situation! i assure you. ]
.. Ah. I also didn't know anything about Gojou. I knew that Mahito wanted to leave 'someone a message' - and I wasn't aware of his power to transfer injuries, either, so when he showed up at trial like that, it was a surprise to me. I assume he likely could have killed Gojou with it, or easily identified me, but Mahito chose not to, for some completely inexplicable reason.
From everything that Gojou has said about their relationship, it kind of sounds like Mahito was just fucking for him just because he could.
[ he does not know what to think about that, so he chooses not to think about it. keep crazy people out of his life, thank you. ]
... I'll be honest, even if Childe does choose to out you, I don't think most people would do much. Even if we only have your word that it was self-defense, the fact that Mahito most likely killed Aoi means that he was on a lot of people's shit list. People think it's better that he's dead.
[ a pause. ]
That said, I still wouldn't actually reveal things publicly unless you're actually forced to. I know there are some people who were pretty fond of the guy and still are, so it's better to avoid... a potential mess.
That man was a lunatic. So, that doesn't surprise me.
[ gu yun also tries to keep the crazy out of his life! he really does! he had to fight off the crazy with a knife that he stole from someone also kind of crazy! ]
But, that was the plan. Harrow said she wanted to tell you, Vira, and Sheila. I've told my two as a gesture of trust. I don't plan on telling anyone else, though I was ready to confess to it at the trial had we not caught Childe if necessary.
Rather, it's the likelihood that Childe's already spoken to those people that's more worrying. There's at least one that I'm aware of. Though he's not exactly the most well liked person in this place, either.
I'll make it clear that I don't regret my actions. Not only did I survive, but if Mahito did kill Aoi, then I feel especially less remorseful. I doubt it's the first time he's killed here, either.
[ so. fuck the flea! ] But, I'll hold onto it. I think, for the most part, both my reputation and the reasoning for it will stand in my favor.
... I do think Childe staying alive is foolish, ultimately - only because I think there aren't many positives to it, and that it is just delaying the inevitable. Were this place a bit more normal, I'd say toss him in a jail cell and keep him there, but that option doesn't exist. At least, not in a way that we would consider it normal.
It's going to take a massive effort of group coordination which we have often lacked to manage. Not impossible - but difficult. I believe Grace mentioned a town hall tomorrow?
If people want him dead, that's fine with me. I won't pretend to have any kind of attachment to him at all. I just wanted to make sure that everyone wasn't making decisions based on how mad they were at the moment.
[ he knows that this is a very quick-tempered group. like, himself included. ][ he just. stares into the distance and sighs. ]
Well. Getting Medb off of him was a good idea, if that's the case.
[ he snorts. she was sure ready to kill childe right there which. was valid. ] I don't really have any attachment to him either - or any particular fury beyond the fact that he killed Lenore and he's arrogant and obnoxious.
[ sometimes... you're a cat and you look in the mirror, and see your own reflection and instinctively swat at it... ]
If there's anything you need help with for organizing it, I'm glad to do so. The larger mysteries of this place are as ever important, and I've kept careful notes.

Honestly, of the group of people we knew about last night, who seemed the most likely to write "boob" in blood. Childe, or Mahito?

[ but he nods. ]
Well, we'll see. Like you said, right now he's far from popular, so maybe they'd be less likely to take his word for it on face value alone.

Thanks. I think we still need to share any info we've gathered by basic investigations, as well as everything that has happened today.
