Either it's just that amazing we don't catch killers weeks after they killed, or we've let Childe get away with one murder before. Either one of those could be what Pride was referring to.

Cutting through the fluff here -- if you were on a mission to murder someone and get away with it, would you stop to interact with someone else? You'd be looking to avoid being seen. If you and another killer survived, they could be more aware of looking for evidence on you to make you the focus of attention, after all.
... And I don't think you'd want to waste time looking at strange things happening in other areas. You'd just know there was more than one person working that night. We're still missing one killer, regardless - whoever killed Mahito.
