I see. They're often caused by necromancy. If your people don't have necromantic abilities, I can see how no revenants would come to be, either.

None of my ancestors had any abilities either, until one day the man who was to become the Emperor developed them. Through his abilities, the abilities of my own family line and others came to be.

If it weren't for him, such things would not exist for my people, either.

I'm not certain why it was him specifically, but a great amount of death occurred at once. The human race was nearly annihilated. The amount of thanergy released by so much death likely gave him his abilities.

Perhaps, perhaps not. But the fact such things don't exist in your world doesn't surprise me.

I think we all have had to, in various ways. Belief can be nothing more than an obstacle, when it's limited in perspective.

I can't say it's surprising, given how suspicious things were last night with getting locked in, but I was hoping that people wouldn't actually die.

The fact that we were locked in and immobilized speaks to assistance on the part of the Avatars.

It makes it seem rather premeditated, doesn't it? Or that they were at least expecting it.

. . . The same. But I was told to consider why they would make such an admonition about death. It led me to believe we were right to assume deaths would occur.

If killing counts as an indulgence, why would someone go through the trouble of killing when you can do other things? Is it worth more?

It makes me wonder if there isn't another reason, other than the indulgence.

I don't know which option is worse.

[ killing for an indulgence so early seems ??? but at least it's like, a potential motive they can easily figure out. ]
